The practice became an independent contractor to the NHS on 1st November 2012. The partners are Dr Gravell, Dr Holland, Dr Wells and Dr Bevan . Previously the practice was managed by Aneurin Bevan Health Board. The practice (as a whole) has a rapidly expanding list that is currently (Sept 2016) 7300 patients. Currently the practice has 6 doctors (5 female and 1 male) 2 nurses, a phlebotomist, healthcare assistant and 9 administrative / reception staff and the practice manager. The practice is linked to the University Hospital of Wales and takes medical students. The surgery is fully computerised on INPS, Vision clinical System.
Gelligaer Surgery moved on 2nd July 2012 into a new, purpose built site in the heart of the village. This move allows the practice to expand it’s services to both it’s patients and others in the local community.
The premises are suitable for wheelchair access, and should you have any disability a member of the practice team will be able to assist you should you need it. The practice has wheelchairs available should you need support when accessing the practice from your transport. Please ask at reception who will be able to help.
In order to provide care for you we are obliged to keep records. This is increasingly done using computers. We are obliged to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and other guidance on privacy and data confidentiality and we take this very seriously.
In order to manage services and improve the quality of care we provide we share some information on practice activity e.g. with Local Medical Committee, Local Health Boards, and the Welsh Assembly Government. Whenever possible this information is anonymised i.e. names and other identifying details are removed. Information is NOT shared with any third party outside the Health Service (e.g. Insurance, employer, solicitor) without your explicit consent and agreement.
